Conditioning: Sled Drag & Krav Maga: 4/24/13

Conditioning: 4/24/13

Sled Drag to class:

Time: ~40 minutes
Weight: +50 lbs
Distance: ~ 1 mile

Krav Maga:

Time: 1 hour

Sled Drag back home:

Time: ~40 minutes
Weight: +50 lbs
Distance: ~ 1 mile

Have the night off later that day and it was nice and sunny out.
So decided to drag the sled to class and back.
No training mask this time but with a little weight to start with.

RunKeeper app still messing with me so exact time and distance is not known and I think I will start using my GPS watch next time.
Good thing I started light as this sled is slightly heavier than my old one and it was a challenge dragging it to class.
Having just finished an 8 hour work shift didn’t help either.

Krav Maga class was good and one of my instructors been saying he wants to sit on my sled as I pull it for a while.
Today was the day and we did a short sprint with him on it.
Around 30 yard sprint with him on the sled then 30 yard drag back.
Can see a quick video of it on FaceBook here: http://www.facebook….151415051657887 or http://www.facebook….151415051657887

After class enjoyed the sun as I dragged my sled back home.

Conditioning: Sled Drag w/ Training Mask & Krav Maga w/o Training Mask: 4/17/13

Conditioning: 4/17/13
Sled Drag to Class w/ Training Mask:

Distance: ~ 1 mile
Time: ~25 minutes
Weight: Sled (~60 lbs) + 0 Plates
Training Mask Setting: 6000′

Krav Maga w/o Training Mask:

Time: 1 hour

Sled Drag from Class w/ Training Mask:

Distance: ~ 1 mile
Time: ~25 minutes
Weight: Sled (~60 lbs) + 0 Plates
Training Mask Setting: 6000′

Had the night off yesterday so decided to drag my sled to class to burn some energy.
Decided to start light so just dragged the sled w/o any plates on it.
Just put on my harness and drag that sled along.
I like to pretend I am training as Santa’s Christmas Backup …

Seems easy enough at start but it hits you after a while considering I am wearing my training mask at 6000′ setting and dragging the sled for around a mile.
Not sure about the exact time and distance so just put in my estimate because my RunKeeper app on my phone didn’t work properly.

Didn’t wear the mask most of the Krav Maga class but I was fine with it.

On my way back home I seem to have made a spectacle of myself, dragging a sled w/ a backpack on and a training mask on my face.
Had a couple people keep asking me what the hell I am doing and some just taking pictures of me.
This actually help my confidence and motivation!

Conditioning: Jump Rope & Prowler Pushes w/ Training Mask: 3/28/13

Conditioning: 3/28/13

Jump Rope:

Time: 5 minutes
Training Mask Setting: 3000 ft

Prowler Push:

Weight: 90 lbs
Terrain: Pavement
Laps: 10
Distance/Lap: 40 yards
Rest/Lap: 1 minute
Total time: 13 m 22.56 s
Training Mask Setting: 3000 ft

Beautiful day outside so decided to do some Prowler conditioning.
Lowest setting on my training mask and started it with a nice 5 minute warm-up with my jump rope.
Even at lowest setting it is a bit difficult and sure I will acclimate soon enough to increase the elevation setting in a few weeks.

Took a minute after my warm-up to prep the Prowler then started pushing it.
Really like that I warmed up first with the jump rope as my body is looser as I started pushing.
Damn it makes me have to catch my breath and REALLY learn to control my breathing as I do this and during my rest time!
I can see this getting real fun as I increase the weight on the prowler and the elevation on the mask in time!

Conditioning: Prowler Push/Pull w/ Elevation Training Mask: 3/21/13

Conditioning: 3/21/13

Prowler Push/Pull w/ Elevation Training Mask:

Weight: 70 lbs
Movement: 20 yd Pull then 20 yd Push/Set
Sets: 10
Rest Time: 1 minute/set
Total Time: 15m 8.03s
Terrain: Pavement
Elevation Mask Setting: 3000 ft

Received my new Black Widow Push/Pull Sled (aka The Prowler) and wanted to test it out with my new elevation training mask.
Decided to start slow by using a very light load.
Whole session was felt easy enough but I did have to catch my breath during the rest time.
Will need to at least increase the weight next session.
Really enjoying the new prowler and training mask! Read the rest of this entry »

Conditioning: Recovery Prowler Workout: 1/1/13

Conditioning: 1/1/13

Recovery Prowler Push:

Load: 70 lbs
Terrain: Pavement
Time: 15 minutes
Distance: ~0.38 miles

Feeling sore from my session yesterday so decided to do the Recovery prowler workout as per suggested from Molly Galbraith’s article here: http://articles.elit…or-the-prowler/
Took it for a nice little walk and heart rate did not even hit 150 BPM.
I did took a few short rests before I hit the max heart rate goal.
Good way to start the New Year!

Conditioning: 1 Mile Prowler Drag, Krav Maga: Conditioning & 1 Mile Prowler Drag Again: 12/19/12

Conditioning: 12/19/12

Prowler Drag to Class:

Load: 35 lbs
Distance: ~1 mile
Time: ~20-30 mins
Terrain: Pavement

Krav Maga: Conditioning Class:

Time: 45 minutes

Prowler Drag to Home:

Load: 35 lbs
Distance: ~1 mile
Time: ~20-30 mins
Terrain: Pavement

Slept terrible again before work.
Then I slipped and broke my fast and ate some cookies at work!
Made myself feel weak doing that and wanted to cleanse myself with some hard conditioning!
Didn’t have time to make it to do the Cardio Kickboxing class so decided to load up my Prowler with a light load and drag it to and from class.
Even with a much lighter load compared to last week it was still a challenge but not as much.

Conditioning class I really enjoyed today!
We did a circuit that lasted 2 minutes each and one of them was the Battle Ropes.
I think I did well until after I hit the 1 minute mark and I just died on the ropes!
REALLY need to quit smoking so my endurance will improve!

PS:
Went to get 2 rotisserie chicken breast once I got home and found out the workers there saw me drag the sled and thought I was insane pulling that sled from where I was coming from!

Conditioning: Prowler Drag & Krav Maga: 12/12/12

Conditioning: 12/12/12

Prowler Drag:

Weight: 50 lbs
Distance: 1.02 miles
Terrain: Pavement
Time: 32m 22.16s

Krav Maga:

Time: 1 hour

Prowler Drag:

Weight: 50 lbs
Distance: 0.99 miles
Terrain: Pavement
Time: 31m 11.68s

Missed the Cardio Kickboxing and Conditioning Combo class so decided to go all out today.
Last time I dragged the prowler to class I couldn’t drag it back (was carrying 90 lb plates)!
So decided to be a little conservative and only put 50 lbs on the it today so I can drag it back and forth.
With the prowler decided to use the harness and drag it most of the way there.
Sometimes I got bored and pulled it with my arms.
Even with a much lighter weight it was still a challenge dragging it this far back and forth.
I also noticed that dragging the Prowler next to major roadways definitely makes you stand out!

Krav Maga class was great and I surprised myself by actually having tons of energy to complete it.
Dragged the Prowler back and definitely running on my last bit of energy to get back home, considering I am now , approximately, on the 16th hour of my fast as I near home.

Definitely wore out and hungry as I finished and definitely drained.
I enjoyed whatever it is I ate this day and took a short nap before work for the night!

Conditioning: Jump Rope & Recovery Prowler Push: 12/5/12

Conditioning: 12/5/12

Warm-up: Jump Rope:

Time: 2 minutes

Recovery Prowler Push:

Weight: 70 lbs
Time: 15 minutes
Terrain: Pavement

Cool-down: Jump Rope:

Time: 2 minutes

Slept for around 5-6 hours and almost talked myself out of doing some conditioning today.
Wanted to do some Martial Arts conditioning but didn’t have the time today so did this quick thing instead.
Read a great article by Molly Galbraith called: Six New Uses for the Prowler and decided to do the recovery prowler workout due to my body still being sore from Monday.

Warmed up with some jump rope and the first few minutes of pushing the prowler was feeling too easy.
Then my heart rate started climbing and rested only when it hit 150 bpm to bring it back down.
Finished it with some light jump rope even tried and succeeded doing a couple “Double Unders”!
A couple as in exactly 2 and I stumbled right afterwards lol.

Working on making a quick reference list of finishers and quick conditioning drills I found online so I can just pick one as needed.
Just some easy drills I can do after a lifting session and also some quick conditioning Indoors for inclement weather.
Really need to make sure I do some good condtioning 2-3x a week to improve my endurance and burn fat faster!

Conditioning: Prowler Push: 10/21/12

Conditioning: 10/21/12

Prowler Push:

Weight: 90 lbs
Laps: 4
Distance: 40 Yards/Lap
Rest: 60 seconds
Terrain: Asphalt

Weight: 160 lbs
Laps: 6
Distance: 40 Yards/Lap
Rest: 90 seconds
Terrain: Asphalt

Total Time: 16m 9.88s

Was going to push the prowler tomorrow morning but it was such a nice day outside.
Already took my dogs for a nice walk so decided to push the prowler for some quick conditioning.
This was 4 hours after I left the gym.
Also, the CrossFit from 2 blocks away is moving 2 doors from my apartment so wanted to see what they are up to.
Think tomorrow I will go for the “Easy” prowler session.
