Week 8: Workout B (Day 25 of Transformation Challenge)

Week 8: 6/29/11

Against my better judgement I took another sleeping pill to help me sleep and I will never do it again!
Woke up so groggy and I think it affected my squat session today.
My bench press and bent-over rows was fine even though the weight felt heavy for me now.
Think my back is somehow stronger than my chest due to the rows being easier than the bench. Either that or I still need to work on my bench positioning to make it easier to do the bench press!

Workout Notes:

Squats:

This session was grueling somehow!
Last session I felt all-powerful and this is ONLY +5 lbs more!
Think that sleeping pill really screwed me up and not going to use it again.
Had a few nice reps but also some bad ones.
A couple of reps that I ended doing a good morning on the way up.
A couple that I somehow had excessive forward lean. Think I may even have a bit of knees forward motion in a couple also.
I think in general the sets on film didn’t look too bad but it felt much worst under the bar!

I think I will jump the gun and instead of staying the same weight I will go ahead and add +5 lbs next session.
Just need to be sure I get enough rest and food the night before and NO SLEEPING PILLS!
Last session rocked and it was only 5 lbs less and I think with proper rest and nourishment I should be finally able to get 270 lbs Squat (1.5x BW SQUAT!)

The only thing that kept me going was these 3 people squatting on the Smith Machine next to me using a “Pussy Pad” and probably just 35 lb plates on each side.
Yeah, they are the ones giggling in the background of my video …
Oh, and afterwards they decided to use the Smith Machine as a Leg press machine … is that even safe?

Bench Press:

Finally did not stall this time!
Think I am doing good for the most part until the last set when I was getting tired.
The Squat session REALLY fatigued me!
I may need to figure out what my other position issues are because doing bench press seems to feel harder than rows for me. Think it is body positioning and if I can finally fix and figure it out that will make my bench skyrocket!

Bent-Over Rows:

I think in general my form is ok on this also.
Maybe get my back a little more parallel next time.
The bar felt really heavy also and I blame that from my grueling squat session!

Dips:
Either the weight for the dips is getting heavy and/or my squat session really kicked my ass!
Dips finally started feeling heavy for me to do.
No shoulder aches still so I am happy about that.
Debating on next session to just increase by +2.5 lbs instead of my regular +5 lbs.

Reverse Crunch:
Really fatigued by the time I did the crunches.
1st 2 sets felt ok but the burn really started on the last set.
I really want to start Dragon Flags one day instead of Reverse Crunches but I do not think I am ready … yet.
Maybe a couple more weeks.
