Cycle 16 – 5s Week: Squat: 8/26/13

Solid 8.5 hours sleep before I got ready for the morning.
Took some melatonin before bed and think that helped.
Started feeling slightly above average as I drove to the gym (6/10) but it dipped to normal once I did my warm-up sets (5/10).

Session wasn’t too bad but I somehow started feeling slightly dizzy once I am about to finish my sets!
Main difference I did today was take 2 tabs of caffeine (400 mg) and 3 tabs of Tyrosine (2.25 g).

I am thinking I may have dosed too much on caffeine and/or tyrosine but leaning more towards the caffeine.
Remember one other time that I started feeling dizzy after sets when I double dosed on my usual caffeine intake pre-training.

Otherwise, a decent training session and need to remember to watch out the dosage of my Pre’s!

This Cycle, I have been trying to cut down my training time so it seems that my Abs/Core accessory will be missed most of the time.
Finishers maybe missed as well depending on how long I have been in the gym and how my schedule works.


Weight: 174 lbs on 8/24/13

Pre-workout Warm-up Time: 25 minutes

Training Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Fasted Time: ~10-11 hours

Pre-workout Warm-ups:

Foam Rolling
Dynamic Stretching
Horizontal & Vertical Jumps
Glute Ham Raise superset w/ Ab Pull Down

Main Lift:


Warm-up Sets:
45 x 10
130 x 5
160 x 5
190 x 3

Work Sets:
205 x 5
240 x 5
270 x 5 (e1RM = 315)

First set felt easy enough.
Felt dizzy at the end of teh 2nd set.
Goal was 5 reps on the top set but started feeling dizy and was afraid that I may pass out if I went for the 6th rep.
Think I could have done the 6th rep on teh top set but better safe than sorry.
At least I made the bare minimum today!

Assistance Exercises:

Work Sets:
(30% of estimated Training Max)

80 x 10
– 1 minute rest
80 x 8
– 1.5 minute rest
80 x 8
– 1.5 minute rest
80 x 8
– 1.75 minute rest
80 x 8

Strange that I still feel above average as I start my sets (6/10) but still get that slight dizziness near the end of the set.
Think I could have made all the desired reps if it wasn’t for my issue today.

Stiff Legged Deadlift):
(40% of Deadlift Training Max)

150 x 10
– 1.75 minute rest
150 x 10
– 1.75 minute rest

Still feeling good (6/10) but still having those dizzy spells.
Sets at least felt easy enough!
